Friday Focus with Ella Steirer

TOWSON, Md. – Every Friday, the Landmark Conference spotlights one of its standout student-athletes in the Friday Focus series. This week’s feature highlights Ella Steirer, a member of the Moravian University women’s lacrosse team. From embracing the team culture to competing in some of the conference’s toughest matchups, Steirer shares what drives her on and off the field as a Greyhound.

Why did you choose Moravian University?
I chose Moravian because I liked the campus atmosphere and the culture and community of the lacrosse team.

What’s something you've learned from being part of a team?
Being part of a team has taught me that success doesn’t come from one person, but from everyone working together toward the same goal. When playing a team sport, you have to be able to trust your teammates and hold yourself and each other accountable.

Most challenging part of balancing athletics and academics?
The most challenging part of balancing athletics and academics is managing your time. You have to prioritize what’s most important and make the most of the free time you do have.

Who do you play for — what or who drives you?
I play for my teammates. They always challenge me to be the best version of myself and support me along the way.

Favorite Landmark Conference opponent, and why?
Susquehanna University, because it’s always a competitive game that challenges me.

If your sport had walk-up music, what would yours be?
My goal song isBring Em Outby T.I.

What’s one thing you’re proud of off the field?
Maintaining the balance of athletics and academics and continuing to push myself to succeed in both areas is something I’m proud of. I work hard to stay focused on my academics while also dedicating time and effort to my sport and other responsibilities.

Best piece of life advice you’ve ever received?
You can’t change what happened, but you can decide what happens next.

What's your favorite movie quote or show line that you always say?
"Just keep swimming.- Finding Nemo.

First time you knew you loved lacrosse?
I knew I loved the sport when I decided to play in college because I couldn't imagine my life without it. The feeling of being on the field, with my teammates, made me realize how much the sport meant to me and how much I enjoyed being part of it.

Favorite place on campus to relax or recharge?
The athletics building, specifically our locker room.

Favorite song before a competition?
Hot Wings (I Wanna Party)

One teammate you’d want on your trivia team?
Kerry Seiler, because she is the oldest and wisest.
