2020 Men's Lacrosse Athletes of the Week

  • Offensive Athlete of the Week - Matt Woodson, Goucher
    March 16, 2020
    (Sr., A - Timonium, Md.) Goucher senior Matt Woodson scored the decisive goal with 1:33 left in overtime in a 10-9 win against Neumann on Wednesday. The senior finished the game with three goals and three assists. Woodson continued to get a hot start in the first half by having a hand in Goucher's first three goals thanks to a goal and two assists. He then posted a goal and an assist in the third to give the team its largest lead at 9-6 before tallying the decisive goal in overtime.
  • Defensive Athlete of the Week - Joe Acquaviva, Susquehanna

    (Sr, FO - Wyckoff, N.J.) Susqeuhanna senior Joe Acquaviva dominated the face-off as the River Hawks picked up their second win of the season. Acquaviva won a career-best 23 face-offs as he took 28 of the game's 31 face-offs. He also scooped up five ground balls to keep Immaculata on the defense for most of the game.
  • Offensive Athlete of the Week - Matt Woodson, Goucher

    (Sr., A - Timonium, Md.) Goucher senior Matt Woodson had another great week, totaling eight goals and six assists for 14 points in a 1-1 week for the Gophers. The senior had a hand in Goucher's first six goals and seven of its first eight to post three goals and four assists in a 15-7 win against Marymount on Wednesday. Woodson then posted a career-high five goals along with two assists against Arcadia on Saturday.
  • Defensive Athlete of the Week - Paul Le Pera, Drew
    March 09, 2020
    (So., M - Florham Park, N.J.) Drew sophomore Paul Le Pera had a phenomenal week, winning 42-of-50 face-offs for a tremendous winning percentage of 84.0% in a 2-0 week for the Rangers. He was 23-for-26 with 14 ground balls in a 20-3 win at Centenary, then went 19-for-24 with five groundballs in a 16-6 victory at Rosemont.
  • Offensive Athlete of the Week - Matt Woodson, Goucher

    (Sr., A - Timonium, Md.) Goucher College senior Matt Woodson posted three goals and two assists in both games this week to finish with six goals and four assists for 10 points while also reaching a career milestone with 100 points in a 2-0 week for the Gophers. The senior had hand in the squad's first two goals in a 12-8 win against McDaniel on Wednesday. Woodson then scored the first two goals of the game for Goucher in a 9-7 win to give the Gophers the lead they would not relinquish. After tying the game at one, Woodson gave the squad the lead for good unassisted at 4:15 in the first quarter for what would also be his 100th career point. He would add a goal and two assists in the second half to help seal the victory.
  • Defensive Athlete of the Week - Justin Lugo, Goucher
    March 02, 2020
    (So., GK - Davie, Fla.) Goucher College sophomore Justin Lugo held two teams to single-digit scoring while making 36 saves and recording 7.50 goals against average and a save percentage of 70.6 % to lead Goucher to a pair of wins in the week. The sophomore made 13 saves and recorded a 61.9 save percentage in a 12-8 win against McDaniel and then was even better against Lebanon Valley in a 9-7 win on Saturday. Lugo tied a career high with 23 saves and turned away shots at a 76.7 percent.
  • Offensive Athlete of the Week - Joey Rockovich, Catholic
    February 24, 2020
    (So., A - Doylestown, Pa.) Sophomore Joey Rockovich led Catholic with nine points and six assists in two games last week. He finished with five points, including a career-high four assists in an 11-10 victory at Arcadia where he found sophomore Sean Baudo for the game-winning goal with 3:05 remaining in overtime. He also had two goals and two assists at Hampden-Sydney.
  • Defensive Athlete of the Week - Shayne Fallon, Scranton
    February 24, 2020
    (Jr., G - West Deptford, N.J.) Scranton junior Shayne Fallon has already been terrific in net for the Royals on the young season, as he is making 17.3 saves per contest in the first three games of the year. He continued his stellar play this past week, making 16 stops in Scranton's first win of the year at Haverford on Wednesday and matched his career-high (set in Scranton's first game of the year) in saves in a tough loss at Muhlenberg on Saturday with 18 saves. Fallon had a 57.6 save percentage on the week and sits at 55.3 percent in that category on the year.
  • Offensive Athlete of the Week - Micah Ballew, Elizabethtown
    February 18, 2020
    (Sophomore, M - Easton, Pa.) Elizabeththown sophomore Micah Ballew tallied a team-high six points on five goals and an assist, leading the Blue Jays to a 13-8 season opening win over Coast Guard. The Easton, Pa. native scored the first three goals of the game to get his career day started for Elizabethtown.
  • Defensive Athlete of the Week - Nate Sanders, Drew
    February 18, 2020
    (Senior, G - Annapolis, Md.) Drew senior Nate Sanders made 14 saves in Drew's 11-8 season-opening victory at Albright. He made four of his stops in a key third quarter in which the Rangers outscored the Lions 3-1 to open up an 8-5 lead.
