Catholic junior Makayla Czan hit .474 (9-19) with six runs, four doubles, one walk, and four RBI, helping the Cardinals go 4-2 over that stretch. She hit safely in five of the six games and posted three two-hit performances, inclduing a 3-for-5 shwoing versus Penn State - New Kensington in which she also scored three runs. Pitcher of the Week - Katie Hurd, Catholic March 16, 2020 (Fr., P - Collegeville, Pa.) Catholic freshman Katie Hurd's performance in the circle helped the Cardinals upset the No. 14 Ithaca College who advanced to the Division III College World Series in 2019. Hurd went the full distance allowing only two hits along with six strikeouts on the day. She picked up her second win of the week after going the full distance against the Plymouth State University, allowing six hits with four strikeouts and no walks. Athlete of the Week - Jasmine Vera, Drew March 09, 2020 (Fr., 2B/OF - Dumont, N.J.) Drew freshman Jasmine Vera hit .650 (13-20) with 12 runs and seven RBI over the final eight games of Drew's Spring Break trip to Florida, helping the Rangers go 5-3 over the stretch. She also drew six walks for a .733 on-base percentage. She hit safely in all eight games and posted five two-hit performances, including a 2-for-3 showing versus Lehman in which she also scored three runs. Pitcher of the Week - Jennifer Sweeney, Scranton March 09, 2020 (Jr., P - Jefferson, N.J.) Susquehanna University junia(Jr., P/IF - Wind Gap, Pa.) Junior Jennifer Sweeney helped Scranton in the pitching circle and at the dish in the Royals' season-opening doubleheader sweep of NYU on Sunday, winning game one, while recording a save in game two. She allowed just three hits and one run in the game one 9-1 win in five innings, while striking out four. Came on in relief in game two, tossing two and a third shutout innings, allowing just one hit. Was 4-for-6 at the plate on the day with an RBI and a triple in game two, scoring four total runs. or Gabby Bubba helped Susquehanna to a 2-0 week as she retired 18 of the last 19 batters, including striking out the last five batters, while throwing only 70 pitches in the River Hawks' 2-1 win over Fredonia. Bubba (1-0) recorded the complete game victory by allowing one run of five hits and striking out seven with no walks. She then recorded the save in the 8-5 win over Pitt Bradford as Bubba came in relief with bases loaded for the final two outs of the sixth before retiring the Bradford side in order in the seventh. Moravian College sophomore Victoria Smith helped the Greyhounds start the 2020 season with a pair of wins on Sunday at the Spring Games in Clermont, Florida. Smith hit .500, going 3-for-6 with three RBI, two runs and a walk for a .571 on-base percentage. She was 2-for-4 with an RBI in an 8-3, 9-inning win over John Carroll (Ohio) University before a 1-for-2 game with two runs and two RBI in the Greyhounds' 4-1 victory over Illinois College.
