2021-22 Softball Athletes of the Week 2021-22 Softball Athletes of the Week All Preview Recap List View Grid View Athlete of the Week - Emily Silberman, Moravian April 18, 2022 Moravian University's Emily Silberman went 5-for-6 at the plate in the Greyhounds Landmark Conference sweep at Drew University. She added a homer, three RBI, a run, and a walk for a .857 on-base percentage and a 1.500 slugging percentage. Pitcher of the Week - Katie Murphy, Susquehanna April 18, 2022 Katie Murphy had another banner week in the circle, as she went 4-0 in four wins for the River Hawks. Murphy struck out 42 batters while chalking up a 0.63 earned run average over the 22.1 innings pitched. She struck out a school-record 15 Thursday against King's and followed that up with 14 against Scranton in a complete-game, one-hit shutout. Athlete of the Week - Emily Silberman, Moravian April 11, 2022 Silberman led Moravian at the plate in a 4-0 week for the Greyhounds as she hit .727 (8-for-11) to go with three runs, two homers, and seven RBI. Silberman drew a pair of walks for a .733 on-base percentage, and she added a 1.273 slugging percentage. Silberman went 4-for-4 with two runs, a homer, and three RBI in a doubleheader sweep of Delaware Valley University, and she then ended the week by going 4-for-7 with a run, a homer, and four RBI in a Landmark Conference sweep at Catholic University. Pitcher of the Week - Emma Tirollo, Scranton April 11, 2022 Tirollo put together a dominant week in the circle for the Royals who also went 4-0 on the week. In her three appearances, Tirollo allowed just one run in 13 1/3 innings pitched. The freshman hurler notched a six-out save in game one of a doubleheader versus Lebanon Valley College before starting game two and firing five scoreless innings. On Sunday against Misericordia, Tirollo surrendered just one run on three hits to go along with three strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings pitched. Athlete of the Week - Zoe Bork, Susquehanna April 04, 2022 Sophomore Zoe Bork had a monster weekend for the River Hawks, who went 3-1 with a doubleheader sweep of Elizabethtown before splitting a doubleheader against York (Pa.) and No. 2 Salisbury Sunday. On the week, Bork hit .778 while slugging 1.222 and posting a .818 on-base percentage, going 7-for-9 with two walks, a double, a homer, and eight RBI. Pitcher of the Week - Katie Murphy, Susquehanna April 04, 2022 Katie Murphy had another strong week in the circle for the River Hawks, as she went 1-0 while allowing just eight hits and two earned runs, striking out 21 batters. Saturday against Elizabethtown, Murphy posted a complete-game shutout, striking out 13 while scattering six hits. She then struck out seven batters over three innings against York College Sunday in a 7-2 win, allowing two runs on two hits, and followed that up with two perfect innings of relief in a 2-1 loss to No. 2 Salisbury. Athlete of the Week - Kadyn Crisswell, Elizabethtown March 28, 2022 Elizabethtown freshman Kadyn Crisswell hit a home run in three consecutive games this past week for the Blue Jays and doubled her RBI total from 8 to 16 over the four games. Crisswell was 7-for-11 overall (.636), including 5-for-6 at Penn State Harrisburg last Monday. The outfielder had at least one RBI in each game and totaled three multi-RBI efforts over the week. Her home run on Saturday in game one against Drew was the first hit and homer at Etown's new facility as the Jays split with the Rangers. Elizabethtown also split at Penn State Harrisburg. Pitcher of the Week - Katie Murphy, Susquehanna March 28, 2022 Murphy had a stellar week for the Susquehanna softball team, as she saw action in all four games of a 4-0 week for the River Hawks. Murphy worked 13.2 innings, allowing just two hits while striking out 29 batters while posting a 3-0 record with a save. Murphy's first outing of the week she struck out four batters to earn a save in a 6-2 win over Penn College, and then started and cruised to a one-hitter over six innings, fanning 12 in an 8-0 win. Against Lycoming, Murphy started game one and allowed one hit over four innings, striking out eight batters. In game two against Lycoming, Murphy struck out all five of the batters she faced in a 12-5 win to pick up the victory. Athlete of the Week - Jennifer Sweeney, Scranton March 21, 2022 Sweeney homered in all four games this week for the Royals including a go-ahead grand slam in Tuesday's 4-3 victory over Carthage. The Wind Gap, Pa., native also closed the week with a pair of multi-hit games and five RBI as Scranton opened Landmark Conference play with a doubleheader sweep of Elizabethtown. Pitcher of the Week - Emma Tirollo, Scranton March 21, 2022 Tirollo allowed just three earned runs in 12 innings on the week and put together a pair of complete-game efforts. Following a win over Wisconsin-Lutheran on Tuesday, Tirollo gave up just two hits over five shutout innings in the Royals' game two victory over Elizabethtown on Sunday. She tallied six strikeouts over the two games for an ERA of 1.75. Athlete of the Week - Madi Precht, Drew March 14, 2022 Precht batted .591 (13-for-22), drove in seven runs, and stole four bases to help the Rangers go 7-1 over the final eight games of their spring break trip to Florida. She batted safely in seven games and had four multi-hit performances, including a 3-for-3 showing in an 8-0 win over New Jersey City and a 3-for-4, 3-RBI output in a 10-3 victory over Western Connecticut State. Her efforts helped the Rangers to their best start (8-0) in team history. Pitcher of the Week - Teagan Bradley, Drew March 14, 2022 Bradley went 3-0 with a 0.74 ERA during Drew's spring break trip to Florida. She tossed a complete game in each of her appearances and allowed just two earned runs and two walks over 19 innings pitched. She recorded her first career shutout with a three-hitter in an 8-0, five-inning victory over New Jersey City in which she struck out five and did not walk a batter. She also worked a pair of five-hitters in a 3-1 win over Pitt-Bradford and a 10-3 victory over Western Connecticut State. Bradley allowed just one earned run and one walk over each of her last two starts while striking out seven versus West Connecticut. Athlete of the Week - Lindsey Gawrys, Moravian March 07, 2022 Gawrys led Moravian at the plate during an 8-0 week at the PFX Spring Games. She hit .542 in the eight games, going 13-for-24, and Gawrys had a 1.000 slugging percentage and a .633 on-base percentage. She scored 10 runs to go with three doubles, a triple, two homers, eight RBI, and five walks. Gawrys, who hit safely in seven of eight games with two three-hit games and a pair of two-hit contests, had 42 putouts and two assists in 51 chances in the field and was part of three double plays at first base. Pitcher of the Week - Madison Hummel, Moravian March 07, 2022 Hummel had a perfect week in the circle as Moravian posted an 8-0 week to finish the trip to the PFX Spring Games with a 10-0 record. Hummel was 4-0 during the week with a 0.78 ERA, 12 strikeouts, three complete games, and two shutouts in 27 innings of action. She had two strikeouts in a 6-2 win over Cabrini University followed by four strikeouts in a 6-0 victory versus Neumann University. Hummel then had six strikeouts in a 5-0 triumph versus Concordia-Moorhead (Minn.) College and earned the win as the Greyhounds defeated the University of Mount Union, 8-1. Athlete of the Week - Paige Phillips, Elizabethtown February 28, 2022 Elizabethtown senior Paige Phillips had a career-high four hits for the Blue Jays in an 8-4 win over Neumann in Florida. Phillips smacked a two-run double in the first, one of two doubles for her in the game. She finished 4-for-5 with those two RBI and two runs scored. Pitcher of the Week - Madi Cunningham, Moravian February 28, 2022 Cunningham had one of the best collegiate debuts in the circle in program history for the Greyhounds. She earned a 3-2 win over Rosemont College on the first day of the Spring Games in Clermont, Florida, and Cunningham registered 13 strikeouts in the seven-inning win, tying for the ninth-most in a single game in school history and the most by a Greyhound making her collegiate debut. Cunningham allowed a pair of runs on four hits and a walk.
