  • Men's Track Athlete of the Week - Brian Seward, Catholic

    (Sr., Sicklerville, N.J.) The Catholic University of America men's track & field team won its 2018 outdoor opener at Mary Washington on Saturday, the first team victory of head coach Ian Hankin's career. The Cardinals had several individual wins and top-two performances as they topped seven other teams. Senior Brian Seward led the way with victories in the 400 (51.35) and as part of the 4x400 relay. He also added a second-place finish in the 200 at 23.08. Seward was joined by juniors Peter Binck and Derek Chapey, as well as sophomore Cosmo Pirozzi on the winning relay team with a time of 3:33.09.
  • Men's Track Athlete of the Week - Mitch Schlegel, Elizabethtown

    (Jr., Telford, Pa.) Elizabethtown junior Mitch Schlegel won both the 100m and 200m at Saturday's Blue Jay Tune Up hosted at E-town. On his home surface, Schlegel ran 11.28 and 22.42 to win the 100 and 200. He was also a member of the winning 4x400m that ran 3:29.38 and a leg on the second-place 4x100m relay. A day prior, Schlegel ran the opening leg for the men's 4x400m at the 123rd Penn Relays in the Pop Haddleton MAC heat. The Blue Jays ran 3:19.09, the sixth-fastest 4x400m time in school history, and took fourth in the section.
  • Men's Field Athlete of the Week - Matt Pysher, Elizabethtown

    (Jr., Bangor, Pa.) Elizabethtown junior thrower Matt Pysher placed in all three throws he contested on Saturday at the Blue Jay Tune Up. Pysher won the hammer, his first event of the day, at 44.07m (144'7"). He was also fifth in the shot and sixth in the discus.
  • Women's Track Athlete of the Week - Maria Anderson, Elizabethtown
    May 01, 2017
    (Jr., Newark, Del.) Elizabethtown junior Maria Anderson won the steeplechase and took third in the 400m hurdles on Saturday at the Blue Jay Tune Up meet. Anderson placed first in the steeple with a winning time of 11:51.77 and was third in the 400m hurdles, an event she has recently taken up, with the ninth-fastest time in program history of 1:13.88.
  • Women's Field Athlete of the Week - Amanda Porter, Elizabethtown
    May 01, 2017
    (Sr., Audubon, N.J.) Elizabethtown senior Amanda Porter was a three-time individual winner at Saturday's Blue Jay Tune Up. Porter took the win in the hammer to start the day at 44.31m (145'4"). She earned first in the shot with a heave of 11.79m (38'8-1/4") and closed out her day with a victory in the javelin. Her throw of 42.38m (139'0") ranks her eighth in the nation across Division III.
  • Men's Track Athlete of the Week - Armond Owens, Susquehanna

    (Sr., Coatesville, Pa.) Susquehanna senior Armond Owens posted his best time of the 2017 track & field outdoor season in the 100m dash at the Misericordia Invite. Owens ran to a first place finish with a time of 11.10.
  • Men's Field Athlete of the Week - Jake Marcelino, Catholic
    April 24, 2017
    (So., Pembroke, Mass.) In its final tuneup before the Landmark Conference Championships The Catholic University of America men's track & field team earned six wins at Saturday's Gallaudet Invitational. Sophomore jumper Jake Marcelino helped the Cardinals to win total as he cleared 13.33 meters in the triple jump. He also added a third-place finish in the 4x100 relay.
  • Women's Track Athlete of the Week - Kiera Lyons, Catholic
    April 24, 2017
    (Jr., Harwood, Md.) The Catholic University of America women's track & field team was victorious on Saturday as they traveled crosstown to win Gallaudet's Invitational. Junior Kiera Lyons led the way and earned her first win of the day in the 1,500 at 5:05.83. She went on to with the 5,000 (19.32.67) and the 400-meter hurdles (1:13.67). Lyons also competed at Morgan State's Legacy meet on Friday to participate in the steeplechase. Going up against a field of seven Division I competitors, Lyons bested all but one and set a new PR with a time of 11:53.84.
  • Women's Field Athlete of the Week - Jackie Finnegan, Moravian
    April 24, 2017
    (Sr., Caldwell, N.J.) Finnegan won the hammer throw at the Misericordia University Invitational with an ECAC qualifying toss of 44.37 meters (145-7), and she captured first place the discus with a toss of 35.50 meters (116-6) to score 20 of Moravian's 70 points as the Greyhounds finished fourth of seven teams.
  • Men's Track Athlete of the Week - Cory Taggert, Moravian
    April 17, 2017
    (Sr., Bloomsbury, N.J.) Taggert ran a PR and ECAC qualifying time of 48.94 seconds to finish as the runner-up in the 400-meter dash, the tenth fastest time in school history and puts him at 26th on the TFRRS, at the Greyhound Invitational. Taggert then ran the anchor leg of Moravian's 4x400-meter relay that placed fourth in an ECAC qualifying time of 3:23.49, the best time in the Landmark Conference this season.
  • Men's Field Athlete of the Week - Robert Marks, Susquehanna
    April 17, 2017
    (Fr., Mt. Holly, N.J.) Susquehanna freshman Robert Marks recorded another career-best effort in a field of mostly Division I and II athletes. He placed fifth in the javeling with his mark of 200' 11" was good enough for fifth place at the Bison Invitational. The throw ranks ninth in the country this year.
  • Women's Track Athlete of the Week - Carly Danoski, Moravian
    April 17, 2017
    (Fr., Clarks Summit, Pa.) Danoski won the 800-meter run at the Greyhound Invitational in an ECAC qualifying time of 2:19.07 to lead the Moravian women's squad that had seven ECAC qualifiers.
  • Women's Field Athlete of the Week - Gabrielle Alguire, Susquehanna

    (Sr. Tunkhannock, Pa.) Susquehanna senior Gabrielle Alguire placed second in the javelin with a throw of 151'1" at the Bison Invitational, competing against mostly Division I and Division II athletes.
  • Men's Track Athlete of the Week - Cosmo Pirozzi, Catholic
    April 10, 2017
    The Catholic University of America men's track & field team competed in its penultimate meet before the Landmark Championships and put forth a strong effort at the Messiah Invitational as the Cardinals finished sixth in a field of 18 teams. Rookie runner Cosmo Pirozzi had one of top performances of the day with a second-place finish in the 800 as he crossed the finish line in 1:57.72. Pirozzi was less than a second behind Messiah senior Nate Pardoe. Pirozzi made it two silvers on the day as the Cardinals' 4x400 relay team earned second with the group of junior Brian Seward, Pirozzi, and sophomores Peter Binck and Derek Chapey combining for a time of 3:30.1.
  • Men's Field Athlete of the Week - Robert Condo, Moravian
    April 10, 2017
    (Jr., Bridgewater, N.J.) Condo was the runner-up in the javelin at the non-scoring Coach P Inivitational with an ECAC qualifying toss of 59.64 meters (195-8), which is 14th on the Track & Field Results Reporting System list with the top 20 making the NCAA Championships at the end of May.
  • Women's Track Athlete of the Week - Kelsey Detweiler, Elizabethtown
    April 10, 2017
    (Sr., Elizabethtown, Pa.) Kelsey Detweiler ran to a pair of third-place finishes Saturday at the Messiah Invitational. She ran identical 13.12's in the prelims and final of the 100m to take third while running 26.61 in the 200m, also third. Her 4x100m relay ran 52.33 to tie for sixth and she helped the 4x400m win the event at 4:10.38.
  • Women's Field Athlete of the Week - Amanda Porter, Elizabethtown
    April 10, 2017
    (Sr., Audubon, N.J.) Amanda Porter won the hammer throw at the Messiah Invitational this past Saturday, and in doing so, broke her own school record. She improved her mark to 44.73m (146'9"). Porter also placed eighth for Elizabethtown in the shot put at 11.14m (36'6-3/4").
  • Men's Track Athlete of the Week - Joseph LaPointe, Catholic

    (Jr., Sicklerville, N.J.) Goucher College freshm(Fr., Ellicott City, Md.) Catholic freshman Joseph LaPointe continues to show his speed as he earned two victories at the Mary Washington Battleground Relays on Friday and Saturday. LaPointe anchored the Cards' 4x800 relay team and led them to a new conference record with a winning time of 8:00.53. He went on to earn a second gold as he was victorious in the 1,500 with a time of 4:05.88.an Ogemdi Chukwu continued his strong outdoor season at the 16th Annual Goucher College Classic. Chukwu ran a 15.55 in the 110 meter hurdles for a first place finish. His time set a new school record, previously set by teammate Miles Taylor.
  • Men's Field Athlete of the Week - Dillon Frawley, Catholic
    April 03, 2017
    (Fr., Bronx, N.Y.) The Catholic University of America men's track & field competed at the two-day Mary Washington Battleground Relays this past Friday and Saturday and put forth several strong performances. One of Catholic's four wins came from rookie Dillon Frawley. The freshman exploded in his pole vault to clear 3.97 meters to come away with the win.
  • Women's Track Athlete of the Week - Kiera Lyons, Catholic
    April 03, 2017
    (Jr., Harwood, Md.) Junior Kiera Lyons helped lead the way for the Cardinals as the gold went her way in the 3,000-meter steeple chase with a time of 12.08.48. She also earned a silver in the 1,500 at 5:07.87. She was just .9 seconds behind the first-place finisher.
  • Women's Field Athlete of the Week - Gabrielle Alguire, Susquehanna
    April 03, 2017
    (Sr., Tunkhannock, Pa.) Susquehanna senior Gabrielle Alguire continued her strong outdoor season at the Millersville Metric Meet. Alguire placed third overall in the javelin with a throw of 147' 10".
  • Men's Track Athlete of the Week - Ogemdi Chukwu, Goucher
    March 27, 2017
    (Jr., Sicklerville, N.J.) Goucher College freshman Ogemdi Chukwu continued his strong outdoor season at the 16th Annual Goucher College Classic. Chukwu ran a 15.55 in the 110 meter hurdles for a first place finish. His time set a new school record, previously set by teammate Miles Taylor.
  • Men's Field Athlete of the Week - Robert Marks, Susquehanna
    March 27, 2017
    (Fr., Mt. Holly, N.J.) Susquehanna freshman Robert Marks won the javelin in a competitive field including Div. I and II athletes. His throw of 60.93 meters is the fifth best in the country this year and came on his first attempt in his college career.
  • Women's Track Athlete of the Week - Amari Schooler, Moravian
    March 27, 2017
    (So., Hopatcong, N.J.) Schooler was second in the 100-meter hurdles in the NCAA DII/DIII portion of the season opening Lafayette College 7-Way Meet in an ECAC qualifying time of 15.55 seconds, and she also ran the second leg of Moravian's 4x100-meter relay squad that finished second in 50.36 seconds.
  • Women's Field Athlete of the Week - Trista Cunningham, Moravian
    March 27, 2017
    (Jr., Orefield, Pa.) Cunningham won the hammer throw in the NCAA DII/DIII portion of the season opening Lafayette College 7-Way Meet with an ECAC qualifying toss of 43.61 meters (143-1). Cunningham was also fourth in the discus with a toss of 35.76 meters (117-4), and she placed ninth in the shot put at 9.47 meters (31-1).
  • Men's Track Athlete of the Week - Brian Seward, Catholic

    (Jr., Sicklerville, N.J.) The Catholic University of America men's track & field team began its outdoor season on Saturday as the Cardinals competed at the Mary Washington Opener. Junior Brian Seward, who did not compete indoor as he also plays men's basketball at Catholic University, got off to a strong start with a bronze performance in the 200-meter dash as he crossed the finish line in 23.58. Seward also took fourth in the 400 at 52.70.
  • Men's Field Athlete of the Week - Chadd Ziegler, Catholic
    March 20, 2017
    (So., Souderton, Pa.) The Catholic University of America men's track & field team began its outdoor season on Saturday as the Cardinals competed at the Mary Washington Opener. Catholic ACT went 1-2 in the pole vault as sophomore Chadd Ziegler was the first to clear 4.11 meters and was followed by freshman Dillon Frawley. The height was a meet record at Mary Washington. Ziegler and Frawley were nearly a meter higher than the third-place finisher.
  • Women's Track Athlete of the Week - Danielle Caruccio, Catholic
    March 20, 2017
    The Catholic University of America women's track & field team began its outdoor season on Saturday as the Cardinals competed at the Mary Washington Opener.Senior sprinter Danielle Caruccio showed her speed as she took second overall in the 400-meter dash as she crossed the finish line in 1:01.10. Caruccio added a fifth-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.32.
  • Women's Field Athlete of the Week - Natalie Kent, Goucher
    March 20, 2017
    (Fr., Media, Pa.) Freshman Natalie Kent had a strong showing in her outdoor track and field season for Goucher. She placed second in the discus with a mark of 33.26m, which set a new Goucher College school record. Kent also placed third in the shot put with a mark of 10.42m.
  • Men's Track Athlete of the Week - Matthew Gass, Susquehanna
    February 20, 2017
    (Sr., Coal Township, Pa.) Susquehanna senior Matthew Gass earned two first-place finishes at the SU Invitational on Saturday. His time of 22.71 in the 200-meter dash earned him the victory and ranks him second in Susquehanna history. His 400-meter time of 50.32 is the fastest time in the Landmark this year.
