Landmark Announces Athletes of the Week

TOWSON, Md. -The Landmark Conference has released the Athletes of the Week. The conference will recognize a student-athlete for each sport based on their contributions to their team throughout the season.

During the fall season, field hockey, soccer, and volleyball will be announced on Monday, followed by cross country, golf, and tennis on Tuesday.

Field Hockey Offensive - Molly McEvoy (Catholic)

McEvoy scored four goals in two games, netting a first-half hat trick in the midweek victory over Mary Washington and scoring the game-winner to knock off conference foe Juniata in overtime on Saturday.

Field Hockey Defensive - Brooke Wilkinson (Moravian)

Wilkinson helped Moravian to a 1-1 record last week. She had a career-high 13 saves in a 3-0 loss at The College of New Jersey. Wilkinson picked up her fourth shutout of the season and the ninth of her career in Moravian's 6-0 win over Drew University. The victory was Wilkinson's 18th to move her into a tie for fifth in program history.

Men's Soccer Offensive - Mehluko Letsoalo (Elizabethtown)

Elizabethtown senior Mehluko Letsoalo had a hand in both of the game-winning goals this past week for the Blue Jays as they extended their win streak to four straight. Letsoalo netted the game-winning goal on a penalty kick in the second half at Immaculata on Wednesday to help Etown beat the Mighty Macs, 2-1. Then, on Saturday at Scranton, Letsoalo beat two defenders and crossed to Ryan Hepler for the game-winning goal in the 71st minute to help the Blue Jays stay unbeaten in conference play.

Men's Soccer Defensive - Ed Rainey (Elizabethtown)

Elizabethtown graduate student Ed Rainey was a big part of helping keep the Jays' four-game win streak intact this past week. Rainey recorded his third assist of the season after getting on the end of a free kick with his head that led to Pedro Guizardi's goal to tie the game at Immaculata before Etown went on to win 2-1. On Saturday, Rainey and the defense limited Scranton to just five shots over 90 minutes to get the win and stay unbeaten in Landmark play.

Women's Soccer Offensive - Mary Haggerty (Scranton)

Haggerty tallied a pair of goals in Saturday's 3-0 win over Elizabethtown as the Royals remained unbeaten in Landmark Conference play with the victory. The multi-goal game was the first of Haggerty's career.

Women's Soccer Defensive - Teighan Boyle (Catholic)

Boyle started at center back and led the Cardinal defense to a clean sheet, only conceding two total shots and not allowing Juniata to put a single effort on target in the 4-0 triumph on Saturday.

Volleyball - Mackenzie Coley (Juniata)

Coley put together another strong week as she hit .430 and helped the Eagles to four wins, including a conference win over Catholic and a sweep of Mary Washington, who is receiving votes in the AVCA top 25 poll. She was named MVP of the Juniata Invitational this past weekend, in which all four teams had winning percentages over .700.
