Landmark Announces Athletes of the Week

TOWSON, Md. - The Landmark Conference has released the Athletes of the Week. The conference will recognize a student-athlete for each sport based on their contributions to their team throughout the season.

For the fall season, field hockey, football, soccer, and volleyball will be announced on Monday, followed by cross country, swimming and diving, golf, and tennis on Tuesday.

  • Men: Tommy Edwards (Drew University)
    Edwards won the Battle of Madison tri-meet against FDU-Florham and Saint Elizabeth at the Giralda Farms Preserve. He ran a time of 12 minutes, 16 seconds for the 4,000-meter course while posting a 13-second victory. Edwards helped the Rangers defeat both FDU and St. E's. 

    Women: Kate Rice (Drew University)
    Rice won the Battle of Madison Avenue tri-meet versus FDU-Florham and Saint Elizabeth at the Giralda Farms Reserve. She clocked a time of 14 minutes, 52 seconds for the 4,000-meter course and won by 28 seconds. Her efforts helped the Rangers defeat both FDU and Saint E's.

  • Men: Max Baronner  (Juniata College)
    Baronner helped the Eagles achieve multiple victories, winning the 50 freestyle (26.74) and 100 breaststroke (1:15.72). He was also a member of the winning 200 medley relay (1:58.45). Juniata won 150–43 over Lebanon Valley this past week.

    Women: Eleanor Smith (Juniata College)
    Smith was dominant in her first collegiate meet at home as she won the 200 freestyle (2:23.23) and 400 freestyle (4:55.59). She also partook in the 200 freestyle relay as Juniata closed the meet in winning fashion, in 1:58.61. Juniata won over Lebanon Valley, 168–32.

  • Men: Elliot Parker (Drew University)
    Parker claimed medalist honors at the Landmark Conference Fall Preview while leading the Rangers to the team title. He shot a 4-under-par 140 (71-69) to edge out junior teammate Avery Cohen by four strokes while earning his second career Landmark Fall Preview victory. He carded 10 birdies for the tournament while leading the Rangers to a convincing 17-stroke victory, finishing with a 36-hole score of 590 (297-293).

    Women: Josephine Nguyen (Drew University)
    Nguyen earned medalist honors at the Landmark Conference Fall Preview, shooting a 10-over-par 154 (78-76) for a five-stroke victory. She finished the tournament shooting even-par on 25 of 36 holes to go with one birdie en route to her second win of the season. Her efforts helped the Rangers place third in the team standings.

  • Women: Ana Savkovic (Wilkes University)
    Ana Savkovic defeated East Stroudsburg’s Lea Stefanovic in #1 singles action 6-1, 6-0 on Wednesday, and took her #1 doubles match with Julia Spaeth 6-1 on Wednesday.
