HUNTINGDON, Pa. - After being voted third in the Landmark Conference Women's Cross Country Championship Poll, the Catholic University women's cross country program raced its way to the top to win the program's first league cross country title since 2012.
Results
The Cardinals placed six runners in the top 20 on Friday, posting a program-record score of 41 to defeat second-place Moravian by 25 points. Catholic's score of 41 is the lowest in program championship history by more than 20 points, bettering the Cardinal's total of 63 points in 2012.
Kate Inglis and Apolline Gaspers finished second (23:19.70) and third (23:44.89), marking Catholic's first two finishers in the top three since Camelia Mayfield placed third in 2011. Inglis' finish is the best-ever by a Cardinal in the Landmark Conference Championships.
Sadie Abood and Emily Moehringer finished 10th and 11th, earning All-Conference honors for the first time with times of 24:09.82 and 24:18.97 respectively.
Georgia Nussey and Ava Perlov rounded out the top-20 for Catholic, placing 15th and 17th respectively. Nussey finished the race in 24:43.62 while Perlov finished with a time of 24:58.53.
