TOWSON, Md. - The Landmark Conference announced its 2023 Women's Cross Country awards Monday afternoon.
The top seven finishers at the conference championship earn First Team All-Conference honors. The next seven are honored on the Second Team, and the next five are named Honorable Mention.
Performer of the Year is awarded to the individual champion of the race, while Rookie of the Year is awarded to the top individual finisher, who is participating in their first year of intercollegiate competition. Coaching Staff of the Year is voted on by the league's head coaches after the race.
Performer of the Year: Kelty Oaster (Elizabethtown College)
Rookie of the Year: Kyrianna Nemitz (University of Scranton)
Coaching Staff of the Year: Catholic University
Elizabethtown College senior Kelty Oaster cruised to a winning time of 22:56.80 to earn Performer of the Year honors, the first for the Blue Jays since 2015. Her time was the fastest winning time by an Elizabethtown champion. Additionally, her time was the only time to break the 23-minute mark on the hilly Sunset Golf Course.
First-year Kyrianna Nemitz of the University of Scranton led all Royals at the championship. Nemitz placed ninth with a time of 24:01.79 to earn Second Team All-Conference. She is the first Rookie of the Year recipient since 2017 and third overall for the Scranton women's cross country program.
Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Steve Rahn and assistant coaches David Carter, Ivan Alvarado, Cecilia Maillet, and Patrick Maxwell, were named the Landmark Conference Women's Cross Country Coaching Staff of the Year. The coaching staff led the Cardinals to the program's first conference title since 2012 with 41 points. Catholic's 41 points is the lowest in program championship history by more than 20 points.
