Landmark Men's Outdoor Track & Field All-Conference Announced

TOWSON, Md. - The Landmark Conference announced the 2023 Men's Outdoor Track & Field Teams on Tuesday afternoon.

The All-Conference selections are based on finishes at the outdoor meet. First place earns First Team honors while second place garners Second Team honors. Of the All-Conference selections, five broke either a conference or championship meet record. The major award selections are nominated and voted on by the league's seven head coaches at the conclusion of the meet.

Track Athlete of the Year: Myron Holland, Jr (Elizabethtown College)

Track Athlete of the Year: Elliott Davis (Susquehanna University)

Field Athlete of the Year: Jordyn Walker (Catholic University)

Rookie of the Year: Austin Hurrell (Susquehanna University)

Coaching Staff of the Year: Susquehanna University (Ethan Senecal)

For the second straight year,
Holland swept the outdoor 100-meter and 200-meter dashes at the Landmark Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championship. Holland had no issues qualifying for the finals in either the 100m or 200m during Saturday's preliminaries. He ran 10.75 in the 100 and 22.27 in the 200 to earn his way back to the final to defend his titles in each. In the finals, he blazed a 10.56 in the 100m final to tie the Landmark Championship record, just .02 off his own school record, to win gold. Later in the meet, he ran a sub-22 for the first time in the 200, going 21.99 to complete the sweep and get his second gold of the day.

Davis was part of the 4x100 relay squad that won the race by .09 seconds with a new personal record of 41.70, good for fourth all-time in school history. In his specialty, the 400-meter dash, Davis set a new championship and Landmark record with his winning time of 47.92, good for third all-time at SU. He later took on the 200 meters, earning silver with a time of 22.10 for fourth all-time.

Walker produced a Landmark Championship Meet and Catholic program-record jump of 7.35 meters to win the long jump by .20 meters. The senior bested one of the program's longest-standing records, bettering Bill Ennis' mark of 7.14 meters set in May of 1969. Walker owns five different program records as the mark puts him 12th in the country. On Sunday, the senior picked up his second gold medal after winning the triple jump with a leap of 14.39 meters. Walker broke his own program record with the jump and is currently in a tie for 26th nationally.

Hurrell, who was named the conference Indoor Rookie of the Meet this past winter, came in seventh in the 100-meter dash, third in the long jump, ninth in the triple jump, and joined Davis on the winning 4x100m relay squad.

Senecal and his staff guided the River Hawks to a resounding 264 points and a 126.5-point margin of victory. After a pair of victories Saturday to lead after day one with 67 points, SU netted six more wins, multiple records, personal records, and nationally-ranked performances for the loaded victory. The win also marked the third straight Landmark outdoor title for the men and fourth overall. It also gave Susquehanna its first conference threepeat since its run of five consecutive MAC championships between 1982 and 1986.
