TOWSON, Md. - The Landmark Conference unveiled its 2024 Women's Indoor Track and Field All-Conference Teams and award recipients on Wednesday afternoon.
All-Conference selections are determined by performances at the conference championships. Athletes achieving first-place are given First Team status, while those securing second-place finishes earn Second Team recognition, and third-place finishers receive Honorable Mention.
Track Performer of the Year: Kate Inglis (Catholic University)
Field Performer of the Year: Remi Acord (Susquehanna University)
Rookie of the Year: Jocelyn Smith (University of Scranton)
Coaching Staff of the Year: Catholic University
Inglis showcased her prowess by clinching two gold medals at the indoor championships. Her triumphs commenced with a commanding victory in the 5,000m run. She stood alone in the field, clocking in at 18:59.66, the sole competitor to break the 19-minute barrier. Later in the meet, she claimed victory in the 3,000m run with a time of 10:14.67, more than 10 seconds ahead of the runner-up.
The junior student-athlete is the first female representative from Catholic University's women's program to secure the league's Track Athlete of the Year accolade.
Acord seized victories in both the long and triple jump events, establishing a record-breaking performance. In the long jump, Acord soared to first place with her third attempt measuring 5.59 meters, surpassing a 13-year-old championship record (5.58m) set by Moravian's Micah Leonard in 2011. She followed up with a triple jump of 11.50 meters, clinching another triumph.
This junior student-athlete adds her name to a long list of River Hawks recognized as the conference's Field Athlete of the Year. She continues a streak, following her teammate Maggie Boyer (2023), and becomes the sixth recipient overall.
Smith secured victory in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.37 seconds and achieved a third-place finish in the 60-meter dash, setting a new program record of 8.01 seconds. She stands as the first Royal athlete to earn the Rookie of the Year distinction.
Under the guidance of head coach Steve Rahn, the Cardinal women's coaching staff earned its first Coaching Staff of the Year award. The Cardinals achieved their highest-ever placement at the Landmark Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships, finishing just seven points shy of favorites Susquehanna University to secure second place with a total of 147 points. Additionally, Catholic University's attainment of five gold medals marked a significant improvement from the previous season, where they failed to secure any event victories, ultimately placing fourth as a team.
