Catholic & Scranton Head to NCAA Women's Lacrosse Tournament

TOWSON, Md. - For the first time since 2014, and just the fourth time in league history, two teams will dance in the NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Tournament.

The University of Scranton earned the Landmark Conference automatic qualifier after winning the league championship, while Catholic University earned an at-large bid.

The Royals head to Denison University to open first-round play against Lake Forest College on Saturday, May 11
. The winner will advance to take on host Denison on Sunday.

The Royals were the top seed in the Landmark tournament and rolled past Catholic by a 12-5 score as junior Grace Lane earned MVP honors with seven goals, four assists, three ground balls, and four caused turnovers in two postseason games.

Scranton is making the fourth NCAA Tournament appearance in program history and fell to Stevens in a 7-5 heartbreaker in a first-round matchup a season ago.

Lake Forest is also back in the NCAA Tournament for a second consecutive year and dropped a 14-8 decision to DePauw in 2023
The Foresters earned the MWLC automatic bid with a 15-14 victory over the College of Saint Benedict on Saturday.

Catholic 
meanwhile, will travel to Newport News, Va. to take on Meredith on Saturday at noon. The winner will advance to play host Christopher Newport at noon on Sunday.

This
 is Catholic's first time being selected into the field as an at-large selection, appearing 13 times in conjunction with 13 Landmark Conference titles. Catholic is 19-13 all-time in NCAA Tournament contests, including 9-0 in first-round games.

Meredith (14-6) earned a bid into the field as the USA South Conference representative after defeating Methodist 20-8 in the championship game
. Meredith won each of its three tournament games by 12 or more goals.

Christopher Newport (13-6) was also an at-large bid into the field after falling to No. 5 Salisbury in the Coast-to-Coast Conference Championship game.
