Cross Country 10/16/2025 12:00:00 PM Landmark Leaders Take Part in WeCOACH Regional Workshop TOWSON, Md. - The Landmark Conference proudly served as a co-sponsor of the 2025 WeCOACH Regional Workshop, continuing its commitment to empowering and supporting women in the coaching and administrative profession. The one-day workshop was held on October 6 at George Mason University. “We love everything about our partnership with WeCOACH. It’s authentic, impactful, and truly aligned with who we are as a conference. Beyond this incredible regional workshop, our shared conference-wide membership ensures every Landmark school can benefit from their programs and network,” stated Landmark Commissioner Katie Boldvich. “WeCOACH continues to open doors for women while keeping small-college athletics at the heart of the conversation. We’re proud to stand alongside them and to keep building opportunities that matter.” The workshop opened with a keynote address from Agnus Berenato, who spoke on “Coaching is More Than X’s and O’s” and set the tone for a day centered on leadership and personal development. Participants engaged in panels and breakout sessions focused on topics such as mentorship, collaboration, technology, and supporting female student-athletes. The program concluded with Dr. Jen Fry’s keynote, “Conflict Literacy,” which encouraged attendees to embrace open dialogue and self-awareness in leadership. The Landmark’s presence was felt throughout the day, with three conference coaches featured as panelists. Meghan O’Connor McDonogh of Catholic University, Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach, participated in the “Coaching Without Limits” discussion, while Casey Burford, Head Women’s Volleyball Coach at Catholic, and Lilly Cross, Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach at Wilkes University, shared their experiences during the “Mom Magic” breakout session. Burford and Cross were also recognized as recipients of a $10,000 grant from the Alex Morgan Foundation, which was presented by Alex Morgan herself via Zoom. “I am deeply honored and grateful to receive the grant from the Alex Morgan Foundation. Being a mom, wife, and coach are three of the greatest joys in my life. This grant assists with childcare support that allows me to continue doing what I love, while striving to be as present as I can for my family,” said Burford. “I am truly touched by the foundation’s commitment to empowering coaching moms and recognizing the dedication it takes to pour into both our teams and our families. Their support reminds me how meaningful it is to be part of a community that truly values and uplifts coaching moms.” The grant celebrates and supports moms in the coaching profession. Launched in October 2024, the initiative from the Alex Morgan Foundation is designed to help high-potential college coaches who are also moms stay in the game - providing the support they need to thrive in both their professional and personal lives. “Attending the WeCOACH Regional workshop was such a great experience. The speakers, panelists, and other coaches in the room had a lot of knowledge and experiences to share in all different aspects of coaching,” said Cross. “Being chosen as a recipient of the Alex Morgan Foundation Coaching Moms Grant means so much to me. This grant will help me balance both roles as a mom and coach, and hopefully show all moms in coaching that it is possible and worthwhile. I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to keep learning and leading.”
