Landmark Announces Athletes of the Week

TOWSON, Md. - The Landmark Conference has released the Athletes of the Week. The conference will recognize a student-athlete for each sport based on their contributions to their team throughout the season.

For the fall season, field hockey, football, soccer, and volleyball will be announced on Monday, followed by cross country, golf, and tennis on Tuesday.

  • Offensive: Maddie Karp (Wilkes University)
    Maddie Karp led the Wilkes field hockey team to two wins in three games last week, scoring four goals with one assist with 10 shots on goal, including an overtime winner against McDaniel College. The first year, opened the week with a two-goal performance against King’s College on Wednesday, with five shots on goal, and followed with another multi-goal game against the Green Terror on Saturday, including the overtime winner. On Sunday, Karp assisted on the Colonels' lone goal in a 3-1 loss to DeSales.

    Defensive: Maia Machado (Moravian University)
    Machado had six saves, a pair of victories, and did not allow a goal in 85 minutes of action in a 2-0 week for Moravian in non-conference action. Machado made four saves in 55:17 of play in a 5-0 win at Cedar Crest College, and she added two saves in the first half of a 5-2 victory over William Paterson University.

     

  • Offensive: Ivan Foreman (Juniata College)
    Ivan Freeman put up another strong performance, rushing 20 times for 115 yards and three touchdowns to clinch the 40-38 victory over Allegheny. He added four catches for 39 yards to help the Eagles to their first 2-0 start for the first time since 2016.

    Defensive: Nick Johnson (Juniata College)
    Nick Johnson was dominant for the Eagles, recording two sacks and forcing a fumble in their 40-38 win over Allegheny. 

    Specialist: Brennan Miller (Susquehanna University)
    Brennen Miller made his presence felt on special teams, collecting five total tackles, including four solo stops on return coverage in the 56-17 win against Bridgewater. 

  • Offensive: Christian Woobay (Lycoming College)
    Woobay posted a goal and two assists in Lycoming's 3-0 win over Mount Aloysius, which won 11 games and reached the AMCC semifinal in 2024. He assisted on the opening goal in 12th minute and added his own goal in the 22nd minute before posting an assist on last goal in 47th minute.

    Defensive: Ale Sternini (Goucher College)
    Sternini had back-to-back shutouts, maintaining a save percentage of 1.000. In the first game of the week against Wilson, Sternini had six saves on the six shots faced. Against Immaculata, he collected five saves of nine shots faced, and played a pivotal role in securing the Gophers' two wins.

  • Offensive: Ella Magee (Lycoming College)
    Magee continued her hot start to the season with four goals and an assist in a pair of Lycoming wins. She posted a goal directly off a corner kick and added an assist in a 4-1 win over Westminster (Pa.). She then scored three goals in the first half, one on a penalty kick, one on a true Olimpico corner kick, and one on a free kick just outside the box, in the 6-0 win over Pitt-Greensburg. 

    Defensive:  Emma Stiller (Juniata College)
    Stiller put together a strong week that saw the Eagles go 2-0-1 with two shutouts in a tie at Alvernia and the win over PSU Altoona. The sophomore keeper made seven saves across the three games with an .875 save percentage. 

  • Athlete: Deanna Whelpley (University of Scranton)
    Whelpley delivered an outstanding weekend for The University of Scranton volleyball team, helping the Royals to a 3-0 weekend with three competitive matches against top regional opponents. She opened the weekend against Middlebury with 18 kills and six digs while hitting .250 over four sets. The next day against Salisbury, she had a match-high 20 kills with just two errors on 45 swings, hitting an impressive .400 across five sets. She closed out the weekend with 11 more kills and a .216 hitting percentage in a four-set battle against Cortland. Across the three matches, Whelpley totaled 49 kills, hit .292, to earn Tournament MVP honors.

    Defensive: Cammi Quirk (University of Scranton)
    Quirk helped guide The University of Scranton volleyball team to a 3-0 weekend. Against Middlebury, she had 11 digs with five blocks in a four-win set. She followed that performance with another 11 digs against Salisbury, and closed out the weekend with a six-dig and one-block performance against Cortland. Across the three matches, Quirk totaled 28 digs, six blocks, and added eight aces.
