Landmark Announces Athletes of the Week

TOWSON, Md. - The Landmark Conference has released the Athletes of the Week. The conference will recognize a student-athlete for each sport based on their contributions to their team throughout the season.

During the winter season, basketball will be announced on Monday, followed by swimming and indoor track and field on Tuesday.

For the spring season, baseball, softball, and lacrosse will be announced on Monday, followed by golf, tennis, and outdoor track and field on Tuesday.

  • Baseball Athlete: Wyatt Harrar (Moravian University)
    Harrar hit .421 to lead the Greyhounds at the plate during a 4-3 week at the RussMatt Invitational. He was 8-for-19 at the plate with seven extra-base hits including two doubles and five home runs for a 1.316 slugging percentage, and Harrar scored nine runs, had 16 RBI, drew eight walks, was hit by a pitch, and had a sacrifice fly for a .586 on-base percentage. Harrar began the week with a 3-for-4 game versus Clark (Mass.) with two homers including his second grand slam of the season and third of his career to go with a double, five RBI, and two runs. Harrar had a home run and three RBI in each game of a doubleheader versus Concordia-Moorehead (Minn.), and he was 2-for-3 with three runs, a double, a homer, and five RBI in a win over Keystone in the opening game of a doubleheader before drawing three walks in the nightcap.

    Baseball Pitcher: Evan Applegate (Susquehanna University)
    Evan Applegate did not give up an earned run in 5.1 innings of work against the reigning national champions and 11th-ranked Misericordia. He allowed four hits and struck out three.

  • Men's Lacrosse Offensive: Tyler May (Goucher College)
    Tyler May was a key asset to the 2-0 week for the Gophers. Against Neumann, May added seven points, with six goals and one assist. In the game, he also caused one turnover and collected a ground ball. In the game against Albright, he recorded seven points with four goals and three assists. This included the game-winning goal to seal the victory for the Gophers with less than 30 seconds left. He caused two turnovers and collected two ground balls. 

    Men's Lacrosse Defensive: Brayden Franey (Elizabethtown College)
    Brayden Franey made a season-high 19 saves in Saturday's 14-6 win at St. Mary's (Md.). Franey allowed just two goals over the final 45 minutes of action with a .760 save percentage to help the Jays to their second win of the season.

    Women's Lacrosse Offensive: Jillian Lopez (University of Scranton)
    Jillian Lopez scored 10 goals on the week and helped lead the Royals to a 12-10 victory over No. 11 Ithaca on Saturday when she matched her career-high with five goals. She also scored five goals on Wednesday in Scranton's 15-10 loss to No. 13 TCNJ. She additionally added 10 draw controls, and three groundballs to her stat sheet.

    Women's Lacrosse Defensive: Eileen Hewitt (University of Scranton)
    Eileen Hewitt recorded 11 draw controls, eight ground balls, and six caused turnovers on the week. She helped lead Scranton to a 12-10 win over No. 11 Ithaca on Sunday, where she had three groundballs and four caused turnovers. She also assisted on the offensive end with one goal and three assists. In the loss to 13th-ranked TCNJ, she had six draw controls, five groundballs, and two caused turnovers.

  • Softball Athlete: Kyra Holtje (Moravian University)
    Kyra Holtje led Moravian at the plate with a .480 average as the Greyhounds began the season with a 7-1 mark at The Spring Games. Holtje was 12-for-25 with three doubles and two homers for a .840 slugging percentage, and she also had 11 runs, 15 RBI, and four walks for a .552 on-base percentage. She began the week with a 3-for-3 game with two runs, a double, a homer, and five RBI in a 10-0 win over Neumann University. She was 2-for-3 with two runs, a double, a homer, and five RBI in an 11-2 win over Alvernia University, and Holtje had a double, two runs, and two RBI in a 16-2 victory over No. 9 Trine (Ind.) University. She also went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs in a 9-1 win versus Gustavus Adolphus and 2-for-3 with an RBI in a 7-0 victory over Emmanuel (Mass.) College to finish the week.

    Softball Pitcher: Sarah DeStefano (Moravian University)
    Sarah DeStefano had a 4-0 week in the circle including a win over No. 9 Trine (Ind.) University as the Greyhounds went 7-1 at The Spring Games in Florida. DeStefano posted a 0.88 earned run average with four complete games, two shutouts, three runs, eight walks, 14 hits, and 23 strikeouts in 24 innings of work in the circle. DeStefano recorded her 100th career strikeout in the opening game of the week as she scattered three hits and three walks to go with seven strikeouts in a 10-0 win over Neumann. She added nine strikeouts in a 7-0 shutout over RPI before recording four strikeouts in a 16-2, six-inning win over Trine. DeStefano finished the week with three strikeouts in a 9-1 victory over Gustavus Adolphus (Minn.).
