Landmark Announces Athletes of the Week

TOWSON, Md. - The Landmark Conference has released the Athletes of the Week. The conference will recognize a student-athlete for each sport based on their contributions to their team throughout the season.

For the fall season, field hockey, football, soccer, and volleyball will be announced on Monday, followed by cross country, golf, and tennis on Tuesday.

  • Offensive: Emily Caporrino (Drew University)
    Caporrino scored a goal in back-to-back games during a 2-0 week for the Rangers. In a 5-1 victory at Manhattanville, she scored late in the third quarter to give her team a commanding 4-1 lead. Then, in a 3-0 win at Neumann, she broke open a scoreless game with a goal midway through the second quarter.

    Defensive: Beth Kelly (Drew University)
    Kelly posted a 0.75 goals-against average and a .917 save percentage in a 2-0 week for the Rangers. She opened the week with five saves in a 5-1 victory at Manhattanville, then turned aside six shots while recording her first shutout of the season in a 3-0 win at Neumann.

     

  • Offensive: Ivan Foreman (Juniata College)
    Foreman helped the Eagles secure their first season-opening win since 2017 with a 31-30 victory over Gettysburg. He rushed for 133 yards on 30 carries (4.4 average) with two touchdowns, including a 20-yard score.

    Defensive: Tyler Wetzel (Wilkes University)
    Wetzel, named Wilkes’ MVP of the game, led the Colonels’ defense in a 19-16 win over rival King’s College. He recorded a team-high 11 tackles, including two sacks and a quarterback hurry.

    Specialist: Dominic Bourgeois (Susquehanna University)
    With Susquehanna’s offense finding the end zone just twice, Bourgeois played a pivotal role in the River Hawks’ 33-14 win over Union. He went a perfect 4-for-4 on field goals and 3-for-3 on extra points, finishing with 15 points, including a 42-yard field goal to close the first half. Bourgeois also handled punting duties, recording four punts for 148 yards (37.0 average), and kicked off seven times for 439 yards (62.7 average) with two touchbacks.

  • Offensive: Nathan Weick (Juniata College)
    Weick tallied three goals across two games, including a brace against SUNY Canton. He scored the opener and later made it 3-0 in that match. He added the third goal in a 3-1 victory over Mount Aloysius.

    Defensive: Jace Bennett (Lycoming College)
    Bennett notched six saves while recording back-to-back shutouts in ties for the Warriors. He had two saves against Misericordia and four against Ursinus, including a diving stop in the 88th minute to preserve the clean sheet against the Bears.

  • Offensive: Mikayla Long (Lycoming College)
    Long totaled four goals and an assist in a 2-0 week for the Warriors, including two game-winners as the team improved to 4-0. She netted a hat trick in a 5-0 win over Keuka and added a goal and an assist in a 7-1 victory over Mount Aloysius.

    Defensive: Riley Mastriani (Wilkes University)
    Mastriani anchored the Colonels’ back line in a pair of 1-0 shutout wins over William Paterson and Alvernia, playing all 180 minutes. Against the Pioneers, Wilkes allowed just three shots on goal, then limited the Golden Wolves to only two.

  • Athlete: Maggie Hayes (Juniata College)
    Hayes led the Eagles with 35 kills and just five errors in 61 attempts, hitting .492 as Juniata went 3-0 on the weekend with wins over No. 15 Marietta, Muhlenberg, and No. 18 Ithaca. She posted 13 kills on a .545 clip against Marietta, added 11 kills while hitting .625 versus Muhlenberg, and recorded 11 more kills with a .348 mark against Ithaca. She also contributed six blocks and six service aces.

    Defensive: Isabella Rushing (Juniata College)
    Rushing averaged 4.27 digs per set to help the Eagles to a 3-0 weekend, highlighted by wins over No. 15 Marietta and No. 18 Ithaca. The sophomore tallied 47 digs overall, including a weekend-high 28 against Ithaca, and added three service aces.
