Landmark Announces Athletes of the Week

TOWSON, Md. - The Landmark Conference has released the Athletes of the Week. The conference will recognize a student-athlete for each sport based on their contributions to their team throughout the season.

For the winter season, men's and women's basketball will be announced on Monday, followed by swimming and diving, and indoor track and field on Tuesday.

  • Men's Swimming Athlete of the Week: Yi Yue (Goucher College)
    Yi Yue paced the Gophers for men's swimming. In all three events that Yue participated in, he placed first, assisting Goucher in their victory over the Greyhounds of Moravian University. In the 200 Yard IM, he finished with a time of 2:22.29, beating the second-place finisher by 13 seconds. In the 100 Yard Freestyle, he led the race with a time of 55.27. Finishing the competition for Yue, he secured the first-place finish in the 100 Yard Breaststroke, with a time of 1:09.73, beating out his opponent by less than three seconds.
     

    Women's Swimming Athlete of the Week: Kaitlyn Firth (Goucher College)
    Kaitlyn Firth held a standout performance for the Gophers in their final home matchup against Moravian University. In the three events, Firth secured first place. In the 50 Yard Freestyle, Firth finished with a time of 28.41, beating out the second-place finisher by a second and a half. In the 200 Yard IM, she beat out her opponent by 12 seconds, with a time of 2:30.55. Finally, in the 100 Yard Butterfly, Firth finished with a time of 1:08.21. Overall, Firth accounted for almost half of the points secured by Goucher in the competition.
     

  • Men's Track Athlete of the Week: Joe Allegro (Moravian University)
    Joe Allegro won the 800-meter run at the Moravian Blue & Grey Invitational at Lehigh University’s Rauch Fieldhouse, posting a personal-best time of 1:58.81. He crossed the line more than two seconds ahead of the runner-up, and the performance currently ranks him third in the Metro Region in the 800.

    Men's Field Athlete of the Week: Cole Goodwin (Susquehanna University)
    Susquehanna hosted the Winter Return at the River Hawk Invite, where Cole Goodwin delivered a standout performance. On his sixth and final attempt, Goodwin launched a new personal best of 15.42 meters to win the shot put, a mark that currently ranks second in the region and 35th nationally. He also placed sixth in the weight throw with a toss of 14.60 meters, which ranks 14th in the region.

    Women's Track Athlete of the Week: Emily Camlet (Drew University) 
    Emily Camlet won two events and placed third in another across a pair of meets for the Rangers. At the Ramapo Season at the Armory, she captured the 400-meter dash for the second consecutive week while also placing third in the 200. Camlet posted a season-best time of 56.86 seconds in the 400, a performance that ranks sixth nationally in Division III and first in the Metro Region. She was equally impressive in the 200, clocking a career-best 25.36 seconds to rank 17th nationally in Division III and first in the Metro Region. Camlet continued her strong stretch at the Ursinus Collegeville Classic, where she won the 600-meter dash by more than two seconds.

    Women's Field Athlete of the Week: Karalyn Vashey (Moravian University) 
    Karalyn Vashey finished first in the 20-pound weight throw at the Moravian University Blue & Grey Invitational at Lehigh University’s Rauch Fieldhouse with an All-Atlantic Regional Track & Field Conference–qualifying toss of 16.71 meters (54-10), tying her own school record. Vashey also placed fourth in the shot put with a mark of 10.93 meters (35-10.5), which ranks her 16th in the region in the event.
