Landmark Announces Athletes of the Week

TOWSON, Md. - The Landmark Conference has released the Athletes of the Week. The conference will recognize a student-athlete for each sport based on their contributions to their team throughout the season.

For the winter season, men's and women's basketball will be announced on Monday, followed by swimming and diving, and indoor track and field on Tuesday.

For the spring season, baseball, softball, and lacrosse will be announced on Monday, followed by golf, tennis, and outdoor track and field on Tuesday.

  • Baseball Athlete of the Week: Lance Eilbacher (Catholic University)
    Eilbacher had a big weekend for the Cardinals, going 6-for-13 with two extra-base hits, three RBI, four runs scored, and four stolen bases. He started with a 3-for-4 effort that included a clutch two-run homer against No. 10 Salve Regina, where he drove in three runs and scored twice. He then went 3-for-5 against Dickinson with a triple and two runs scored.

    Baseball Pitcher of the Week: Luke Cardman (Catholic University)
    Cardman came up huge for the Cardinals in his outing against Stevens, earning the win with 4.1 shutout innings, in which he struck out eight batters and allowed only two hits, helping Catholic earn a 3-2 victory. His eight punch-outs were a career high for the junior.

     

  • Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week: Eli Yusavage (Drew University) 
    Yusavage averaged 24.5 points per game in a 2-0 week for the Rangers in which he shot 57.7% (15-for-26) from the field, including 50.0 (7-for-14) from 3-point range, and 80.0% (12-for-15) at the foul line. In his top performance, he poured in a career-high 30 points to lead Drew to a 92-84 victory at Susquehanna, which clinched the No. 2 seed going into the postseason. He shot 9-for-17, including 5-for-11 from beyond the arc, and went 7-for-8 at the foul line, including hitting 5-of-6 free throws in the final 31 seconds to help stave off a late Susquehanna rally. Yusavage added 19 points and six rebounds in a 97–74 victory over Moravian, shooting 6-for-9 from the field, including 2-for-3 from three-point range, and 5-for-7 at the free-throw line.

    Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week: Carly George (Susuquehanna University)
    George led the River Hawks to two pivotal wins this week against Goucher College and Drew University. With the two wins, Carly helped SU clinch the No. 2 seed in the Landmark Conference playoffs. During the Goucher game, Carly scored a total of 11 points, while also pulling down 12 rebounds. She continued to dominate the point total and rebound categories against Drew as she scored 20 points and secured nine rebounds.

  • Women's Lacrosse Offensive Athlete of the Week: Grace DiDominica (University of Scranton) 
    DiDominica delivered in the clutch to power No. 25 Scranton to an early-season victory, scoring the game-winning goal with just 3.3 seconds remaining to lift the Royals to an 8-7 upset over No. 6 Franklin & Marshall College. After assisting on the game-tying goal with 1:58 remaining, she capped off Scranton’s final possession by finishing on the doorstep off a feed from Eileen Hewitt as time expired.

    Women's Lacrosse Defensive Athlete of the Week: Eva Guerino (University of Scranton)
    Guerino anchored a dominant defensive effort to lead No. 25 Scranton to a statement 8-7 upset victory over No. 6 Franklin & Marshall College. Guerino recorded eight saves to keep the Royals within striking distance throughout the contest. After Franklin & Marshall opened the game with three early goals, Guerino settled in and made timely saves at the end of the first quarter to halt momentum and spark Scranton’s comeback. In the fourth quarter, Guerino made two clutch saves to prevent the Diplomats from extending their lead.
