Landmark Announces Athletes of the Week

TOWSON, Md. - The Landmark Conference has released the Athletes of the Week. The conference will recognize a student-athlete for each sport based on their contributions to their team throughout the season.

For the winter season, men's and women's basketball will be announced on Monday, followed by swimming and diving, and indoor track and field on Tuesday.

  • Men's Swimming Athlete of the Week: Doug Bell  (Susquehanna University)
    Doug Bell helped the River Hawks to victories over both Moravian and Lycoming in the final meet before the championships. He started his day by taking first place in the 50-yard freestyle, posting a time of 22.26. He then placed first in the 100-yard freestyle race, showcasing a time of 49.81. Finally, his team finished in first place in the 200-yard freestyle relay, showing a time of 1:30.35.

    Women's Swimming Athlete of the Week: Emma Miller (Wilkes University)
    Emma Miller capped off the regular season with a phenomenal showing against Catholic. The first-year diver posted her second NCAA Regional qualifying score of 438.50 in the 1-meter dive. With that score, she’s now officially qualified for the NCAA Regionals later this month. She also competed in the 3-meter dive and scored a 208.40.

  • Men's Track Athlete of the Week: Calder El Bachir Diakite (Susquehanna University)
    At the Ithaca College Bomber Invite, Calder El Bachir Diakite delivered an impressive performance, advancing to the finals of the 60-meter hurdles after posting a preliminary time of 8.43 seconds. He raised the bar in the finals, clocking an 8.31 to claim the event title and finish .24 seconds ahead of the field. Diakite also played a key role in the 4x400 relay, joining Aidan Diglio, Henry Notarfrancesco, and Mason Winslow to secure a third-place finish with an AARTFC-qualifying time of 3:25.25

    Men's Field Athlete of the Week: Cole Goodwin (Susquehanna University)
    At the Ithaca College Bomber Invite, Cole Goodwin continued his strong season in the shot put, using a clutch 15.39-meter throw on his sixth and final attempt to secure a second-place finish. He also turned in an impressive performance in the weight throw, placing fifth with a personal-best mark of 15.43 meters, a distance that ranks seventh in the region.

    Women's Track Athlete of the Week: Emily Camlet (Drew University) 
    Emily Camlet won two events and placed second in another while posting another outstanding showing for the Rangers. At the Schuylkill Showcase, hosted by Widener University, she won both the 200 and 400-meter dashes while taking runner-up honors in the 60-meter dash. She was clocked at 56.93 seconds in the 400 and raced to a winning time of 25.39 in the 200. She also produced a career-best time in the 60, hitting the line in 7.83 seconds. 

    Women's Field Athlete of the Week: Molly White ( University of Scranton) 
    Molly White finished in first place overall in the pentathlon at the Ithaca Invitational. On Sunday, she posted a program record-breaking score of 3,346, ranking first in the region and seventh nationally in the event. The performance also improved her standing in the Landmark Conference record book, where she now ranks second all-time after surpassing her previous mark.
