Herbert Selected as Men’s Basketball Senior Scholar-Athlete

TOWSON, Md. – The Landmark Conference selects 23 senior scholar-athletes each year to recognize the top student-athletes in each sport based on academics and athletics. The honorees must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 and are selected by a committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors, senior woman administrators, faculty athletic representatives, athletic communications, and diversity, ethnicity, and inclusion designee.

Catholic University men’s basketball standout Brian Herbert has been named a 2025-26 Landmark Conference Senior Scholar-Athlete, recognizing excellence in both the classroom and competition. A biology major on the pre-med track, Herbert carries a 3.94 GPA while building an accomplished career for the Cardinals. He joins teammate Ben Ciesielski (football) this academic year in receiving the honor and becomes the second straight Cardinal men’s basketball student-athlete to be recognized, following former teammate Sean Neylon last year, and the fifth overall in program history.

On the court, Herbert was a key contributor to Catholic’s success, helping the Cardinals capture a League Championship in 2023-24. He has earned two All-Conference selections, including First Team honors in 2025-26 and Second Team recognition in 2024-25.

In the classroom, Herbert has been recognized twice on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team in 2023-24 and 2024-25. He has also earned Catholic University Academic and Parish Scholarships for his academic excellence.

Herbert has been active in service and leadership, serving as a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and volunteering with Nutritional Services at Penn Medicine Hospital.
