Landmark Conference Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year Finalist: Brian Herbert

TOWSON, Md. – Catholic University's men's basketball student-athlete Brian Herbert has been named a finalist for the Landmark Conference Male Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year, an honor recognizing graduating seniors who have demonstrated exceptional achievement in academics, athletics, leadership, and community service throughout their collegiate careers. The league's overall Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year will be selected from four finalists and submitted for consideration for the Division III Commissioners Association (DIIICA) National Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

A biology major on the pre-med track, Herbert carried a 3.94 grade point average while building an impressive career for the Cardinals. He joins football student-athlete Ben Ciesielski among this year's honorees and becomes the second straight Cardinal men's basketball student-athlete to receive the recognition, following Sean Neylon last season.

On the court, Herbert was a key contributor to Catholic's success, helping the Cardinals capture a Landmark Conference Championship in 2023-24. He has earned two All-Conference selections, including First Team honors in 2025-26 and Second Team recognition in 2024-25. He finished his career with 1,218 points, which ranks 20th in program history.

In the classroom, Herbert has been recognized three times on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team (2023-26). He has also earned Catholic University Academic and Parish Scholarships in recognition of his academic achievement.

Herbert was also active in service and leadership during his time at Catholic, serving on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and volunteering with Nutritional Services at Penn Medicine Hospital.

The overall Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year will be announced on Wednesday, July 8.
