TOWSON, Md. - As the Landmark Conference counts down to the start of the 2026-27 academic year, the Conference will revisit some of the best stories from its member institutions through the Landmark Rewind series.
Running August 3-14, Landmark Rewind will spotlight one Landmark institution each weekday by featuring two stories originally produced by that school's athletics department. From student-athlete features and championship moments to community impact and campus initiatives, the series gives fans another opportunity to discover the people and programs that make the Landmark Conference special before fall competition begins.
Susquehanna University has a lavish history between football and men’s basketball, as some will say the two have been hallmarks in the university’s proud athletics traditions. It wasn’t until this year, however, that both programs won their conference championship outright and automatic bids to the NCAA Tournament. Football won its third consecutive Landmark Conference championship and advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals for the second year in a row. Men’s Basketball needed to win three road playoff games to hoist its trophy and did so, traveling through Scranton, Drew, and finally Wilkes by overcoming an 11-point deficit late in the game.
To add to these firsts, the two teams shared a student-athlete in Logan Rhoades, who in the fall serves as one of the River Hawks’ defensive backs, while in the winter plays guard. This makes Rhoades the first football and men’s basketball student-athlete at Susquehanna to earn conference championships in the same sport in the same year. In football, he collected 10 tackles, while on the court, he recorded 11 3-pointers.
