News 3/18/2026 12:00:00 PM Get to Know Rebecca May; Moravian Senior Associate Athletic Director TOWSON, Md. – The Landmark Conference is proud to spotlight the campus leaders who help shape the student-athlete experience across the league. This month's feature highlights Rebecca May, Senior Associate Athletic Director at Moravian University. From enhancing facilities to advocating for student-athlete success, May shares insight into the experiences and mindset that guide her work in collegiate athletics. What led you to a career in college athletics? Growing up, I loved all aspects of athletics. The camaraderie of a team, the team celebration of winning, and the painful pre-season practices were all things that I cherished but knew that they would come to an end one day. I have a business mindset and knew that college athletics is a blend of both worlds. What's your favorite part of your current role? When I walk around our facilities, I am always looking to see what can be improved, either visually or for function. I love the ability to identify areas in need and find creative ways to yearly enhance the athletes' experience on campus. It is important for an athlete to see improvements during their four years on campus. How do you define success in your work? When a team raises a trophy or a coaching staff is named 'Coaching Staff of the Year, ' I have done my part advocating for them on campus so they are successful. What advice do you give student-athletes about leadership? Leadership is a behavior, not a title! Anyone can be a leader on a team, not just the ones with a patch or band. How does your department celebrate student success? The SAAC committee votes on the athlete of the week. This is a great way for SAAC to acknowledge successes that are happening outside of their sport. SAAC also holds a year-end all-athlete banquet to recognize all types of great achievements that took place throughout the entire department. Favorite Landmark Conference memory or event? Standing beside Commissioner Katie Boldvich at the first Landmark Conference football game and watching several years of work coming to fruition. I also knew that at that moment Katie wasn't basking in the fruition of Landmark football because she was already thinking of the 'next' thing for the conference. This is a special conference in DIII because of that mindset. Best part of being at Moravian University? Moravian is the sixth-oldest college in the country, so there is a plethora of traditions. At the same time, there are new ones being created yearly. There is a rich history at Moravian, along with the importance of being revolutionary. What's your go-to coffee order or campus snack? I'm a black coffee type of person. If I am out, I will always drink WaWa hazelnut coffee with French vanilla creamer. No matter what time of day. My favorite snack is the Moravian sugar cake. I only have it once or twice a year because I think there are about eight sticks of butter in the cake. SOOO good though!
