TOWSON, Md. – Goucher College hosted the 17th Annual Landmark Conference Summer Research Symposium on July 16, welcoming student researchers from across the conference to present their summer research projects.
The annual symposium provides Landmark students with the opportunity to present independent research to faculty and peers from fellow conference institutions while fostering academic collaboration across campuses. Participants shared their work through poster and oral presentations.
Goucher women's lacrosse student-athlete Nia Brooks appreciated the opportunity to dedicate time to meaningful research during the summer.
"The opportunity to research this summer was truly an amazing experience," Brooks said. "With a busy schedule during the academic year as a student-athlete, independent research isn't always feasible. Being able to complete work as meaningful as this has truly been rewarding in a multitude of ways. I'm excited to have been able to sharpen my scientific and professional skills thanks to the Goucher Summer Research Program and the Landmark Research Symposium!"
Fellow Goucher women's cross country and track and field student-athlete Kalia Kiyoi enjoyed both presenting her work and learning from students across the conference.
"I had a great time in this program and learned so much during it," Kiyoi said. "I was very excited to present at the conference to show the other schools what we have been doing. It was really exciting to see everyone's work as we have been working really hard to prepare for the conference."
Five Landmark Conference institutions and 18 student-athletes participated in this year's symposium. As NCAA Division III members, Landmark institutions embrace the division's philosophy of integrating academic excellence with the student-athlete experience.
Participating Institutions: Elizabethtown College, Goucher College, Juniata College, Moravian University, and Susquehanna University.
