TOWSON, Md. - The Landmark Conferenced announced its 2022-23 Women's Tennis All-Conference Teams.
Teams were nominated and voted on by the league's eight head coaches.
Player of the Year: Sofiya Lebedeva (Drew University)
Rookie of the Year: Sofiya Lebedeva (Drew University)
Coaching Staff of the Year: Drew University (Scott Veith)
Lebedeva put together a tremendous debut season with the Rangers while becoming Drew's first-ever Landmark Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Year. She is also the third Ranger in as many years to win the conference's Rookie of the Year award, following Mary Kalorin last season and Melina Christodoulou in 2021.
Ranked fourth in the region in singles and fifth with Kalorin in doubles, Lebedeva started the season in impressive fashion back in September at the ITA Division III Northeast Regional Championships, reaching the Round of 16 in both singles and doubles. Competing at the No. 1 spot in both singles and doubles, she has posted a 15-2 singles record and a 16-4 doubles mark, tying the school record for doubles wins in a season. In singles, she went 13-1 in dual matches and was a perfect 5-0 in Landmark Conference play. She also went undefeated versus conference opponents in doubles, teaming with Kalorin to finish 7-0.
Veith has directed the squad to the winningest season in program history, as the Rangers (18-2, 7-0 LC) have won four more matches than any women's tennis team at Drew. Ranked fifth in the most recent NCAA Division III Region III rankings, they went undefeated in Landmark Conference play for the second year in a row and topped Moravian University 5-1 in the final of the Landmark Conference Championship for their second straight LC title and the third Landmark crown in program history.
