TOWSON, Md. - The Landmark Conference is proud to announce its new partnership with Chi Alpha Sigma, an organization dedicated to recognizing college student-athletes who excel in athletics, academics, and community involvement.
"The Landmark Conference is dedicated to recognizing the remarkable academic and athletic achievements of our student-athletes," said Landmark Commissioner, Katie Boldvich. "With all of our conference members and student-athletes now eligible for Chi Alpha Sigma through this league initiative, we're proud to honor the dedication, discipline, and leadership they demonstrate on and off the field. This opportunity highlights our commitment to excellence and ensures each student-athlete is celebrated for their hard work in the classroom and in competition."
Chi Alpha Sigma was founded in 1996 by former DePauw University head football coach Nick Mourouzis. His vision was to connect high-achieving student-athletes through a national honor society, aligning their educational and athletic accomplishments for lifelong impact. Today, Chi Alpha Sigma boasts over 360 active chapters across all divisions of college athletics in the United States.
The Landmark Conference currently has all 10 members as active Chi Alpha Sigma chapters.
"With more than half of the Landmark Conference member schools already having chapters, it's exciting to welcome all member institutions into our Chi Alpha Sigma community," said Kellen Wells-Mangold, Executive Director of Chi Alpha Sigma. "Our mission aligns with the Landmark Conference's focus on academic excellence, recognizing student-athletes alongside the coaches and staff who support their achievements."
Landmark Conference student-athletes of junior standing or higher with a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or above on a 4.00 scale are now eligible for induction into the National College Athlete Honor Society. Inducted students will also be eligible for national awards and postgraduate scholarships offered by Chi Alpha Sigma.
"When Chi Alpha Sigma introduced this conference-wide initiative over the summer, I immediately brought it to Commissioner Katie Boldvich," said Tom Till, Goucher College Associate Athletic Director and head swimming and diving coach. "Goucher has recognized its student-athletes through this program since 2005, making it a key part of our athletics awards ceremony and graduation honors. It's a way to showcase our student-athletes as high achievers both in sports and academics."
