Landmark Announces Athletes of the Week

TOWSON, Md. - The Landmark Conference has released the Athletes of the Week. The conference will recognize a student-athlete for each sport based on their contributions to their team throughout the season.

During the spring, baseball, softball, and lacrosse will be announced on Mondays, followed by golf, tennis, and outdoor track and field on Tuesdays.

Baseball Athlete: Tony Rossi (Susquehanna University)

Rossi had a monster week for the River Hawks as the junior went 12-for-20 for a batting average of .600 and a slugging percentage of 1.150. He added 11 RBI with 10 runs scored to go along with five walks, four doubles, four stolen bases, two triples, and one homerun.

Baseball Pitcher: Matt Colucci (Drew University)

Colucci fired seven scoreless innings to pick up the win in Drew's 3-0 win over Wilkes. He struck out four and walked only one while leading the Rangers to their first Landmark Conference victory of the season.

Men's Lacrosse Offensive: Troy Scozzafava (Lycoming College)

Scozzafava posted six goals and seven assists in Lycoming's 26-16 win over Keystone. The 13 points tied the second-best mark in program history and were the most by a Warrior in a game in 21 years.

Men's Lacrosse Defensive: Sean Nolan (Goucher College)

Nolan totaled seven caused turnovers and nine ground balls in a 2-0 week. He registered five caused turnovers and six ground balls in a 15-7 win over Delaware Valley on Saturday and then notched two caused turnovers and three ground balls in Tuesday's 8-7 win over Curry.

Women's Lacrosse Offensive: Lizzy Barrett (Drew University)

Barrett piled up 18 points on 13 goals and five assists in a 2-0 week for the Rangers. She started the week by scoring a career-high seven goals and handing out three assists in a 17-9 victory at Arcadia. She also had three draw controls, two ground balls, and two caused turnovers versus the Knights. Barrett followed up with six goals, two assists, and four draw controls in Drew's 26-15 win over FDU-Florham in which the Rangers broke the team record for goals in a game.

Women's Lacrosse Defensive: Sydney Lewis (Goucher College)

Lewis posted a .643 save percentage and made 18 saves in a 1-1 week. She made 14 saves in a 7-6 loss to Neumann on Saturday and then recorded four saves in 39:20 of action against Notre Dame (Md.) in a win on Wednesday afternoon.

Softball Athlete: Sarah Stepnowski (University of Scranton)

Stepnowski hit a staggering .643 (18-for-28) with five doubles, three triples, 17 RBI, and 12 runs scored as the Royals went 7-1 in Myrtle Beach. The senior captain broke the program's all-time triples record with the 15th of her career, surpassing the previous record that had stood since 1983. Stepnowski recorded six multi-hit games on the week and drove in multiple runs on six different occasions as well including a 4-for-4 performance against Keystone with four RBI and four runs scored.

Softball Pitcher: Juliana Janezic (University of Scranton)

Janezic put together an impressive week for the Royals as she went 3-0 with a 0.35 earned run average in three starts including two complete games and allowed just one earned run in 20.0 innings pitched. The freshman hurler struck out three and tossed a shutout in a victory over Mississippi University for Women and scattered just two hits while fanning a season-high five across six shutout innings against Albright. Janezic had started the week with a complete game victory against Stevenson as she gave up two runs (one earned) on six hits to go along with a walk and two strikeouts in 6.0 innings pitched.
