TOWSON, Md. - The Landmark Conference announced its 2023-2024 Women's Tennis All-Conference teams on Wednesday. Teams are nominated and selected by the league's 10 head coaches.
Players of the Year: Melina Christodoulou (Drew University), Medina Yessenaliyeva (Juniata College)
Rookie of the Year: Medina Yessenaliyeva (Juniata College)
Coaching Staff of the Year: Drew University
Melina Christodoulou of Drew University has once again proved why she is one of the top women's tennis student-athletes in the Landmark Conference, clinching her first Player of the Year honor and fourth consecutive First Team All-Conference selection. Christodoulou is Drew's second Women's Tennis Player of the Year selection in a row after Sofiya Lebedeva won in 2023.
Christodoulou's dominance on the court is nothing short of impressive, with previous accolades including a Rookie of the Year selection in 2021, and 34 career victories. She once again had a solid season this Spring, Drew, with a 10-5 record in singles matches, and 10-6 in doubles, primarily partnered with Mary Kalorin.
Juniata's Medina Yessenaliyeva was incredible in her freshman campaign, emerging as a double threat in winning Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year honors for the 2023-2024 season. Yessenaliyeva is the first rookie of the year selection for Juniata since Lauren Lucas in 2016. Her performance on the court speaks volumes, boasting an impressive 14-5 record in singles matches and 10-9 in doubles. In conference play, she finished with an impeccable 9-0 record in singles and 6-3 in doubles.
Head Coach Scott Veith and the Drew women's tennis coaching staff emerged as this year's coaching staff of the year for the third year in a row. In those three years, the Rangers have won three straight championships, a combined record of 43-18, and a perfect 23-0 record in the Landmark Conference.
