TOWSON, Md. - The Landmark Conference selects 23 senior scholar-athletes annually, recognizing student-athletes in each sport and considering both academic and athletic achievements.
These honorees must maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 and are chosen by a committee comprising Landmark Conference officers, athletic directors, senior woman administrators, faculty athletic representatives, athletic communications personnel, and diversity, ethnicity, and inclusion designees.
Sean Neylon is the third Catholic University men's basketball player to be named the Landmark Conference Senior Scholar-Athlete, joining Chris Kearney (2013) and Kyle Phanord (2016).
A key contributor for the Cardinals this season, Neylon started all 29 games, averaging 16.7 points per game while leading the team in scoring with 483 total points. His performance helped propel Catholic to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2002, as the Cardinals won both opening-round games.
Since transferring to Catholic as a sophomore, Neylon has made a lasting impact, appearing in 81 games and starting 64. To date, he has totaled 1,026 points, 186 made three-pointers—including 90 this season, ranking fourth all-time in program history—353 rebounds, 109 assists, and 40 steals.
His outstanding play this season earned him 2024-25 Landmark Conference Player of the Year and First Team All-Conference honors, marking his second All-Landmark recognition after receiving Second Team honors in 2022-23. He also became the second consecutive Cardinal to earn conference Player of the Year, following Jesse Hafemeister.
Off the court, Neylon has excelled academically, maintaining a 3.64 GPA as an accounting major. He was named to the 2023-24 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team.
Beyond his academic and athletic achievements, Neylon has given back to the community through the Neylon Basketball Camp, helping to develop young players.
