Landmark Announces Athletes of the Week

TOWSON, Md. - The Landmark Conference has released the Athletes of the Week. The conference will recognize a student-athlete for each sport based on their contributions to their team throughout the season.

For the fall season, field hockey, football, soccer, and volleyball will be announced on Monday, followed by cross country, golf, and tennis on Tuesday.

  • Offensive: Bella Fini (Drew University)
    Fini totaled four goals and one assist in a 2-0 week for the Rangers. In a 3-2 overtime victory at Eastern, she scored all three of her team’s goals, including the game-winner six minutes into extra time. She added a goal and an assist in Drew’s 3-0 win over FDU-Florham.

    Defensive: Beth Kelly (Drew University)
    Kelly posted a .867 save percentage during the week. She made nine saves in Drew’s 3-2 overtime win at Eastern, including two stops on potential game-winning shots in overtime, and added four saves for a shutout in the 3-0 victory over FDU-Florham.

  • Offensive: Terrence Oliver (Lycoming College)
    Oliver had a historic outing, rushing for a Landmark Conference-record 298 yards on just 22 carries and totaling a conference-best 334 all-purpose yards against Dickinson. He became the Landmark’s all-time rushing leader with 2,295 career yards and scored three touchdowns on runs of 73 and 89 yards (the latter a Landmark record) and a three-yard reception.

    Specialist: Marciel Do Amaral (Western Connecticut University)
    Do Amaral made his mark in WestConn’s 55-21 win over Gettysburg, hitting field goals of 25 and 18 yards and converting all seven extra points. His 25-yard kick was the first of his career.

  • Offensive: Ben Zimmer (Catholic University)
    Zimmer was involved in every goal for No. 18 Catholic, totaling two assists and a goal across two draws. He started the week with two assists in a 2-2 tie against Washington College and scored the Cardinals’ lone goal in a 1-1 draw with Stockton.

    Defensive: Charlie Smith (University of Scranton)
    Smith delivered back-to-back shutouts to help the Royals go 1-0-1. He made three saves in a 3-0 win over Penn State Abington and followed with three more stops in a 0-0 draw at No. 9 Cortland.

  • Offensive: Ella Magee (Lycoming College)
    Magee powered the Warriors to a 2-0 week and a program-record eighth straight win, totaling three goals and an assist. Against Alvernia, she scored twice in the second half, including the game-winner in the 87th minute for a 2-1 comeback. She added a goal and an assist in a 4-3 win over King’s.

    Defensive: Ella Smith (Elizabethtown College)
    Smith picked up her second shutout of the season in a 0-0 draw at Ursinus, making several key stops to preserve the clean sheet. She added two more saves in a 1-1 tie with Penn State Berks. For the week, Smith totaled seven saves with a .875 save percentage.

  • Athlete: Deanna Whelpley (University of Scranton)
    Whelpley led Scranton to a 3-0 weekend sweep of Eastern, Rowan, and Union (NY), posting a .373 hitting percentage on 150 attacks for 69 kills. She had 25 kills (.286) against Eastern, 20 (.340) versus Rowan, and 24 (.523) against Union (NY).

    Defensive: Isabella Rushing (Juniata College)
    Rushing had a huge weekend, totaling 51 digs across three matches with 14 assists and five aces. She recorded 22 digs against nationally recognized Christopher Newport and 23 against No. 9 Johns Hopkins.
