Landmark Announces Athletes of the Week

TOWSON, Md. - The Landmark Conference has released the Athletes of the Week. The conference will recognize a student-athlete for each sport based on their contributions to their team throughout the season.

For the fall season, field hockey, football, soccer, and volleyball will be announced on Monday, followed by cross country, golf, and tennis on Tuesday.

  • Men: Gavin Hefferan  (Moravian University)
    Hefferan paced the No. 25 Greyhounds to a runner-up finish at the Stockton Osprey Open. Hefferan recorded a third place finish among the 162 runners on the 8,000-meter course with a time of 25:10.87. 

    Women: Tara Smurla (Moravian Univeristy)
    Smurla helped the Greyhounds to a fifth-place finish at the Stockton Osprey open as she ran a time of 23:12.89 on the 6,000-meter course to lead the Hounds with an eighth-place individual finish out of 158 runners. 

  • Men: Jax Puskar (Susquehanna University)
    Puskar won the individual title at the Susquehanna Invitational with a 71 (+1) score to lead the River Hawks to their first tournament victory in 15 years. Puskar posted three birdies and shot one-under on the front nine. 

    Women: Kyleen McCance (Wilkes University)
    McCance dominated for her second medalist honor of the 2025 season, finishing first with a 72 for par in a quad match with Scranton, Marywood, and Misericordia. McCance finished 15 strokes ahead of the second-place finisher, who finished with an 87.

  • Men: Max Dombrowski (University of Scranton)
    Dombrowski led Scranton to a 4-3 win over Susquehanna on Saturday. He won his No. 1 singles match by a score of 6-0, 6-0 and added a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles.

    Women: Sarah Crawford (University of Scranton)
    Crawford didn't drop a set in Scranton's 7-0 win over Susquehanna on Saturday. She won her No. 1 singles match by a score of 6-0, 6-0, and added a 6-0 win in the No. 1 doubles match.
