Landmark Announces Athletes of the Week

TOWSON, Md. - The Landmark Conference has released the Athletes of the Week. The conference will recognize a student-athlete for each sport based on their contributions to their team throughout the season.

For the spring season, baseball, softball, and lacrosse will be announced on Monday, followed by golf, tennis, and outdoor track and field on Tuesday.

  • Baseball Athlete of the Week: David Woolley (Elizabethtown College)
    Woolley delivered a record-breaking week for the Blue Jays as they went 4–1. Overall, Woolley hit .462 (12-for-26) with three home runs, one triple, two doubles, seven RBIs, and nine runs scored. In the series at Juniata, he broke the Landmark Conference career at-bats record with his 599th at-bat. He then tied the conference career record with his 238th hit, while also setting the career conference triples record with seven. He continued his strong performance against Penn State–Harrisburg, recording two home runs and four RBIs while adding one of his three-hit performances during the week.
     

    Baseball Pitcher of the Week: Luke Cardman (Catholic University)
    Cardman was stellar on the mound for the Cardinals last week, pitching to a 2-0 record over 13 innings while only allowing two runs and punching out eight batters. He opened the week with a career-long seven-inning outing against Scranton, allowing just one run with four strikeouts. He followed up with a six-inning start against Moravian, where he again allowed just a run with four more strikeouts.

  • Men's Lacrosse Offensive Athlete of the Week: Jacob Morgan (Goucher College) 
    Morgan continues to play a key role in the Gophers offense, recording 22 points over two conference matchups last week. Against Lycoming, Morgan added six goals, six assists, while also adding three ground balls. In the matchup against Juniata, he added four goals and six assists while causing five turnovers. With 10 points against the Eagles, Morgan surpassed 300 career points, continuing to set the career points record for both the school and conference.

    Men's Lacrosse Defensive Athlete of the Week: Josh Steinmiller (Goucher College)
    Steinmiller posted a strong performance for the Gophers over this last week. In a win against Lycoming, he logged 40:14 in goal, recording eight saves, with a .889 save percentage. He followed that effort with another strong showing in a win over Juniata, playing three quarters and tallying 11 saves with an impressive .917 save percentage. Across the two victories, Steinmiller also contributed four ground balls.

    Women's Lacrosse Offensive Athlete of the Week: Eileen Hewitt (University of Scranton)
    Hewitt led the University of Scranton women’s lacrosse offense during a 2-0 week. She totaled 13 points on six goals and seven assists across the two contests, highlighted by an eight-point performance against Moravian with four goals and four assists. She followed that with a five-point outing in the win over Catholic, scoring twice and adding three assists. The junior was highly efficient offensively, placing 10 of her 13 shots on goal (.769 SOG%), while also contributing across the field with three ground balls, one caused turnover, and a dominant 15 draw controls.

    Women's Lacrosse Defensive Athlete of the Week: Eva Guerino (University of Scranton)
    Guerino led The University of Scranton women’s lacrosse team to a 2-0 week with Landmark Conference victories over Moravian (14-8) and Catholic (10-4). Guerino was a steady presence in the net, facing 47 shots totaling 18 saves while allowing just 12 goals across 120 minutes of action. She recorded nine saves in each contest, including a strong performance in the win over Catholic, where she held the Cardinals to just four goals.

  • Softball Athlete of the Week: Sydney Andrews (Moravian University)
    Andrews helped Moravian to a 4-0 week in Landmark Conference action with a .538 average as she went 7-for-13 with five runs, two RBIs, two doubles, and a triple. Andrews added a pair of walks for a .600 on-base percentage to go with an .846 slugging percentage. She recorded a putout and 12 assists in 13 chances in the field. She hit well in all four games during the week as Andrews went 4-for-8 with three runs and a triple in a sweep of Drew University, and she was 3-for-5 with two doubles, two runs, and two RBIs in a sweep of Catholic University.

    Softball Pitcher of the Week: Sarah DeStefano (Moravian University) 
    DeStefano went 2-0 in the circle with a 0.50 earned run average, a shutout, and 12 strikeouts in 14 innings in a 4-0 week for Moravian in Landmark Conference action. She scattered four hits to go with seven strikeouts in a 4-0 victory over Drew University, and added five strikeouts in a 7-1 win versus Catholic University. At the plate, DeStefano hit safely in all four games with a .429 average as she went 6-for-14 with a triple, two runs, and six RBIs, and she had six putouts and five assists in 12 chances in the field during the week.
