Landmark Announces Athletes of the Week

TOWSON, Md. - The Landmark Conference has released the Athletes of the Week. The conference will recognize a student-athlete for each sport based on their contributions to their team throughout the season.

For the fall season, field hockey, football, soccer, and volleyball will be announced on Monday, followed by cross country, golf, and tennis on Tuesday.

  • Men: Jack Thompson  (Wilkes University)
    Thompson finished fifth overall at the Lock Haven Open on Saturday, setting a time of 26:50.10, his best time of the young season and the fastest by a Division III runner at the event. That time marks the fourth best of the sophomore’s career.

    Women: Sophia Bostwick (Susquehanna Univeristy)
    Bostwick led Susquehanna with a 16th-place finish in the 6K at the Dickinson Long-Short Invitational with a time of 24:17.2.

  • Men: Elliot Parker (Drew University)
    Parker turned in a tremendous performance in his season debut at The Gauntlet, held at the Bucknell Golf Club. He shot an 8-under 132 (66-66) and won the event by seven strokes. His efforts helped lead the Rangers to the team title, as they shot a 572 (287-285) to win by five strokes over runner-up Farmingdale State in the field of 14 teams. Parker also tied for 28th out of 97 golfers at the Bowdoin Invitational, shooting a 9-over 153 (75-78) to help lead the Rangers to a fifth-place finish out of 17 teams as Drew shot a 603 (303-300).

    Women: Kennedy Petrovich (Susquehanna Univeristy)
    Finished first during Susquehanna's victorious tri-match against Bloomsburg and Lock Haven on Sunday with a 74 (+4). Tallied birdies on two holes, along with 11 pars. The River Hawks won with a 328, 17 strokes up on Bloomsburg and 57 on Lock Haven.

  • Men: Nathan Bassett (Susquehanna University)
    Bassett posted singles and doubles wins as Susquehanna defeated Elizabethtown 4-3 on Saturday. He gave SU an early 1-0 lead after clinching his three doubles match with partner Austin Imhoof in a 6-4 victory before tying the match 3-3 with a dominant performance at five singles, winning 6-0, 6-1.

    Women: Nanci Major (Susquehanna University)
    Major secured doubles and singles wins against Elizabethtown in a 4-2 victory Saturday. She won a tight battle at one doubles with partner Mackenzie Romig by a 7-6 score over Haley Bishop and Katie Balzano. She then won her three singles matches against Balzano by a 7-5 score.
